Join Numbers is a running puzzle built around a single comparison. You control a number moving along a track, and the track is blocked by gates that each carry a value of their own. Pass a gate whose number is lower than yours and you break through; meet one that is higher and the run ends there. Between the gates are pickups that raise your number, and the route branches often enough that the choice of lane is the whole game. What makes it work is that the arithmetic is always ahead of you rather than behind. You can see the gate coming and you can see what the lane will add before you commit, so every decision is a quick comparison made under mild pressure - exactly the sort of estimation that is useful and rarely practised. Levels tighten the margins as they go, until lanes that looked equivalent turn out to differ by two or three at the gate.
How to Play Join Numbers
Drag left or right, or use the arrow keys, to steer your number between lanes as it runs forward. Collect pickups to increase the value you are carrying and pass through gates showing a lower number than yours. Meeting a gate you cannot beat ends the level, and you can restart immediately.
Tips and Tricks
Read the gate first, then work backwards to decide which lane gets you there. Choosing a lane because it looks generous and discovering the gate afterwards is how most runs are lost.
A lane with several small pickups usually beats one large one, because you can change your mind halfway along it.
Do not switch lanes late. The number moves across slowly and a last-moment change often clips the gate divider rather than passing either side.
When two lanes are close, take the one that leaves you nearer the middle. Central lanes keep both options open at the next branch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it involve real maths?
It involves comparing and adding under time pressure, which is genuine mental arithmetic even though the game never presents it as a question.
What happens when I hit a gate that is too high?
The level ends and you restart it. Nothing is lost beyond the attempt, so an early mistake is best restarted rather than played out.
Is it suitable for younger players?
Yes. The numbers stay manageable and the controls are a single left-right drag, though later levels need quick decisions rather than careful ones.
How many levels are there?
A long sequence that unlocks as you clear each stage, with the margins between lanes narrowing as you progress.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Join Numbers loads in the browser on GN Math and steers by dragging on a touchscreen or with the arrow keys.
