Remove Puzzle is a small logic game with one rule and a surprising amount of depth behind it. The board holds a set of squares, and a square can be removed only if nothing blocks the direction it would travel. Everything is visible from the start, so a level is never a matter of discovering information - it is entirely a question of finding the order. That constraint is what makes it work. Removing a square almost always unblocks something and blocks something else, so the sequence has to be planned rather than improvised, and a level that looks nearly finished can turn out to have been lost four moves earlier. Levels are laid out in different combinations rather than simply adding more pieces, so the difficulty comes from arrangement rather than volume. It is aimed at children and reads as a simple tapping game, but the later boards are legitimate ordering problems that adults will need to think about.
How to Play Remove Puzzle
Click or tap a square to remove it. A square can only be removed if the path in its direction is clear - blocked squares will not respond. Clear every square on the board to complete the level. There is no timer, so you can study the arrangement for as long as you like before your first move.
Tips and Tricks
Look for squares on the outside of the arrangement first. They are usually the only ones with a clear path, and they open routes for everything behind them.
Before removing anything, check what it is currently blocking and what it will block once gone. A square can be the only thing holding a route open.
Work out the last few moves before the first. Many levels have exactly one square that must go last, and finding it makes the rest fall into order.
If a level stalls, restart rather than picking at what is left. A partly cleared board that has gone wrong cannot usually be recovered.
Frequently Asked Questions
When can a square be removed?
Only when nothing blocks the direction it would move in. Squares with something in the way simply will not respond to a tap.
Is there a time limit?
No. Levels wait indefinitely, which suits a game where nearly all the work is planning the order rather than making the moves.
Does every level have a solution?
Yes, though usually only one workable order. Finding that order is the entire puzzle.
Is it suitable for children?
It is designed for them. There is no reading and one rule to learn, though the later boards are genuinely difficult for adults too.
Do I need to install it?
No. Remove Puzzle runs in the browser on GN Math and works with a mouse or by tapping on a touchscreen.
