Water Pipe is the plumbing puzzle in its classic form: a grid of pipe segments, a source at one end, a drain at the other, and every piece turned the wrong way. You rotate them until an unbroken channel runs from one to the other. It is a puzzle that reads instantly - anyone can see what a connected pipe looks like - which is why it has survived in one form or another for decades. The difficulty is in the pieces that could go two ways. A cross or a T-junction can be part of the route or a dead end depending on what its neighbours end up doing, and levels are laid out so that the obvious rotation of one piece forces a wrong rotation two squares later. There is a timer, but it is generous, and the levels are numerous enough that the game works as something to dip into rather than sit down with.
How to Play Water Pipe
Tap or click a pipe segment to rotate it a quarter turn; keep tapping to bring it all the way round. Build a continuous path from the water source to the outlet, then let the water run to complete the level. Finish before the timer empties - most levels allow more than enough time if you work methodically.
Tips and Tricks
Start at the source and the drain and work inward. The pieces at both ends have only one sensible orientation, and fixing them narrows everything in between.
Leave the crosses and T-junctions until last. They fit several ways, and settling them early is what forces the wrong route further along.
A corner piece in a grid edge can only face two ways, not four. Spotting those immediately removes a lot of the guesswork.
If the route will not close, count your straight pieces. A path that needs more straights than the board holds means the route itself is wrong, not the rotations.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the goal of each level?
Rotating the pipe segments so that an unbroken channel runs from the water source to the outlet, then letting the water through.
Is the timer strict?
No. It is generous enough that a methodical approach comfortably beats it. Rushing tends to cost more time in wrong rotations than it saves.
Do I need to use every pipe on the board?
No. Spare pieces are left over on most levels, and trying to include all of them is a common way to get stuck.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. There is nothing to read and no way to lose permanently, and the visual logic of a connected pipe is clear to young players.
Do I need to install it?
No. Water Pipe runs in the browser on GN Math and works by tapping or clicking each segment.
